Human life is best described like a book, with a beginning and an end, chapters and pages, conflicts and critical moments. As we face a quickly approaching graduation, we also turn the last remaining pages of a beautiful chapter in our lives. Feelings of unrest and joy fill our hearts because we know a new chapter awaits us after graduation. Here is a sneak peek of page 1:
Today is your day.
You’re off to great places!
You’re off and away!”Amidst the excitement of freedom and independence, we are a little scared. We ask ourselves questions like, “Will I like my roommate? What if I don’t?” or “Should I join a sorority? Should I play intramural sports? Should I completely change my wardrobe and identify as a hipster?” Fear not, you will find some encouragement on page 3, which says:
“You’ll look up and down streets. Look ’em over with care. About some you will say, ‘I don’t choose to go there.’ With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you’re too smart to go down any not-so-good street.”
A few pages in, you’ll find yourself wondering. As cliche` as this may seem.. you will probably wonder “Who am I?” or “Where do I belong?” You’ll feel stuck in a place where all you can do is wait for answers, but low and behold, on page 26:
“you’ll escape all that waiting and staying. You’ll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing.” Then before your very eyes “once more you’ll ride high! Ready for anything under the sky. Ready because you’re that kind of guy!”
be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray
or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O’Shea,
you’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So... get on your way!”
Thank you for reading, and have a happy Easter!
